Crisis Management Mastery: Emergency Assessment and Response

During a recent Chartwell webinar, representatives from Ameren, Colorado Springs Utilities, and Hydro Ottawa discussed the importance of acting quickly and following procedures strictly during widespread utility emergencies such as wildfires, storms, and breaches in cybersecurity. The speakers highlighted the most common points of error during this process, covering the best practices available for properly assessing the scale of a disruption and escalating accordingly. They also emphasized the importance of both internal and external communication during these events, especially in terms of how they affect perception of the utility from customers and shareholders alike.
