Enbridge Gas uses Whimsy and Gamification to Collect Meter Read Recordings

Enbridge Gas hosted an energetic campaign known as Read, Record, Reward from June 2023 to March 2024. Join this session to learn how Enbridge Gas incorporated prize incentives and gameshow psychology to encourage residential customers to provide the utility with monthly natural gas meter readings. An animated character known as Merle the Squirrel and gamification were designed to increase customer engagement. Throughout the campaign, more than 1.2 million meter readings were submitted by customers to Enbridge Gas. This effort earned Chartwell’s Gold Best Practices Award in the category of Marketing and Communications this year.
