SMUD’s Storm Response Team Reimagines Outage Operations
A series of unprecedented storms in late 2022 and early 2023 generated significant infrastructure damage across SMUD’s service territory, causing widespread outages. The experience prompted the utility to launch a Storm Response Team. The team met twice a week throughout 2023 to successfully identify, prioritize, and produce a comprehensive outage response improvement portfolio.
