Customer Research Propels New Outage Communications Approach at Nova Scotia Power

In response to increasing severe weather, Nova Scotia Power has undertaken numerous infrastructure and communications improvements. In 2023, the utility launched several focused initiatives designed to mitigate storm damage and better communicate with customers when unplanned outages occur. By communicating with customers via their preferred channel, Nova Scotia Power has successfully improved messaging recall and satisfaction.

This program won Nova Scotia Power Honorable Mention in Chartwell's Outage Best Practices Awards for Outage Communications.
