ComEd Leverages Emergency Preparedness to Protect Customers Through “Ring of Fire” Storm
When a record-breaking “Ring of Fire” storm brought 43 tornadoes, flooding, and widespread outages to Illinois, ComEd’s extensive emergency preparedness plan was put to the ultimate test. The utility activated multiple Emergency Response Organization teams, partnered with state and local agencies to secure a seven-mile stretch of Interstate 55, and deployed more than 2,000 additional line workers from across North America to accelerate restoration.
