SRP’s EV Charging Pilot Designed to Assess the Viability and Scalability of Active Management

Salt River Project (SRP) introduced a pilot program in 2022 to test active managed charging of electric vehicles (EVs) using telematics. SRP’s Corporate Sustainability Goals aim to achieve managed charging of 90% of EVs across its service territory by 2035 as part of an overarching ambition to mitigate the impacts of EV charging on the grid and turn EV charging from a grid liability into a grid asset. Through the pilot, SRP worked to discern the feasibility and scalability of a broader managed charging effort.
