Enbridge Gas Gamifies Meter Reading

The Enbridge Gas “Read, Record, Reward” campaign leveraged prize incentives and gamification psychology to encourage residential customers to submit monthly natural gas meter readings. During the campaign, every meter reading submission counted as a chance to win one of three monthly prizes of $500 and a grand prize of $1,000. The campaign featured simple instructions, clear calls to action, and Merle the Squirrel – a new animated character. The results surpassed expectations, with more than 1.2 million meter readings logged between June 2023 and March 2024, representing a 31% percent increase from the previous year.

This project has been recognized with a Gold Award for Marketing and Communications in Chartwell's 2024 Best Practices Awards.
