Gold Award Winner Increases Autopay Enrollment by 38%
Over one-third of utilities are planning major initiatives to improve autopay usage, according to Chartwell’s recent Payment Utility Industry Survey.
EPB, a utility member of the Billing and Payment Leadership Council, is the recipient of Chartwell’s 2025 Gold Award for Excellence in Billing and Payment for offering more flexible payment options to customers while maintaining data integrity, leading to increased Autopay enrollment by nearly 40% in less than a year.
EPB revitalized its billing and payment experience in 2024, expanding payment options to include Apple Pay, Venmo, Google Pay, and PayPal. As a result of these measures, EPB has successfully bolstered participation in its billing and payment self-service options and received positive customer feedback, particularly related to the simplicity of its AutoPay option, which 82% of customers rated “extremely” or “very” easy in a post-transaction survey.
A summary of EPB’s program is available on Chartwell’s Insight Center. EPB will also share the details of its program and lessons learned at Chartwell’s EMACS Conference.
