Enhancing Awareness of Your Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)

By Ben Murdock, Senior Data Analyst

In a recent survey, we explored the level of confidence among our Emergency Management Council members regarding the awareness and communication of their Emergency Operations Plans (EOP). Participants were asked to rate their agreement with various statements on a scale of 1 to 5.

The results revealed some interesting insights. The highest level of agreement was that our members have the necessary tools available for effective communication about the EOP. This is a positive indication of being well-equipped to share critical information when needed.

There was also a relatively high level of agreement that members have established processes in place to facilitate communication around the EOP. This suggests that our members are confident in the structured methods we use to disseminate information.

However, the survey highlighted a significant area for improvement: having a way to determine if all the event-facing business units are aligned in communication. The lowest level of agreement was observed in this area, indicating that members see the need to develop better metrics and evaluation methods to ensure their communication strategies are truly effective.
