Hawaiian Electric Transitions to Full AMI Deployment

Hawaiian Electric is rolling out advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) to homes and businesses on Oahu, Hawaii Island, and in Maui County. To minimize its opt-out rate, Hawaiian Electric launched an extensive communications campaign emphasizing the benefits of AMI, which include the ability to see energy usage in 15-minute intervals and the potential to reduce energy use and save money. Hawaiian Electric is working to increase customer acceptance of AMI technology in an effort to complete its AMI deployment by Q3 2024.
