Consumer Trends 2025: Value-Added Services Meet Customer Demand and Realize Revenue Opportunities
According to Chartwell’s 2025 Residential Consumer Survey, more than 40% of respondents said they want their utility to “do a better job of providing products, services, and tools to meet [their] current and future energy needs.” While this seems like a tall order at first glance, utilities can in fact not only meet customer expectations, but also gain support for utility objectives and generate revenue.
This analysis is the second and final report in Chartwell’s Consumer Trends 2025 series. It draws on data collected through Chartwell’s 2025 Residential Consumer Survey to identify consumers’ energy-related goals and opportunities for active partnership with the utility; highlight specific products and services desired by utility customers; and work to future-proof customer programs that can deliver maximum value.
