SDG&E Delivers Critical Information to Customers Before, During, and After Unprecedented Wildfire Conditions

After experiencing multiple waves of unprecedented Public Safety Power Shutoff events in December 2024 and January 2025 due to historic Santa Ana winds, San Diego Gas &Electric (SDG&E) successfully prioritized customer safety, communications transparency, and infrastructure resilience. During the events, SDG&E notified nearly 275,000 customers, supported vulnerable populations, and maintained trust in affected communities.

This initiative earned SDG&E Silver recognition in Chartwell’s 2025 Best Practices Awards for Outage Communication.
