Chartwell 2026 Emergency Management Industry Benchmark Survey Datasheet

The results of Chartwell’s 2026 Emergency Management Industry Benchmark Survey include responses from 40 electric utilities across the United States and Canada. Respondents include 26 investor-owned utilities and 14 publicly owned utilities. Together, these organizations serve approximately 74 million meters. The survey sample is evenly split between 20 utilities serving 1 million meters or more and 20 utilities serving fewer than 1 million meters.

The survey examines utility emergency management practices, including organizational structure, planning, training and exercises, situational awareness, and coordination during major events. The results provide a snapshot of how utilities are strengthening readiness, improving response capabilities, and integrating emergency management across the enterprise.
