CenterPoint’s Approach to Building All-Hazards Resilience Across the Enterprise

Following Hurricane Beryl, CenterPoint Energy accelerated significant investments in emergency preparedness and organizational resilience. But the company’s transformation extends far beyond hurricane response. In this session, Jonathan Robb, Director of Emergency Preparedness, will share how CenterPoint is building an enterprise-wide, all-hazards resilience program that integrates emergency management, business continuity, incident management, operational readiness, training and exercises, governance, and technology into a unified framework. Attendees will gain insight into how the utility is evolving from a storm-focused approach to a comprehensive resilience strategy capable of preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a wide range of operational threats. Jonathan Robb is Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response at CenterPoint Energy, where he leads the company’s emergency preparedness, training and exercise, and business continuity programs. He is responsible for advancing an enterprise-wide, all-hazards approach to resilience that strengthens operational readiness across the utility. Previously, Robb served as Director of Emergency Management at the University of Texas at Austin, where he led emergency management and business continuity programs, supported major athletic events and high-profile visits, and helped oversee the university’s COVID-19 vaccination operations. Before entering emergency management, he served as a firefighter specializing in tactical rescue operations with the City of Findlay Fire Department. Robb holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University and is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).
