ComEd’s Operation Power Play Awarded Gold in Emergency Management Category of Chartwell’s Best Practices Awards

In April 2023, ComEd’s Emergency Preparedness Department hosted the fifth iteration of its Operation Power Play exercise series, which consisted of drills designed to ensure proper response to simulated energy-related emergencies. The two-day event was held in partnership with local, county, state, and federal governments across Illinois and is credited for increasing collaboration and expanding outage readiness.

This program won ComEd Gold in Chartwell’s Outage Best Practices Awards for Emergency Management. This is a new category this year, and it recognizes outstanding strategies and practices in emergency management, such as ComEd’s, which emphasizes comprehensive approaches to incidents like natural disasters, cybersecurity breaches, and equipment failures.
